Alessandro Balotini has said he wants to stay at Manchester City for another season after signing a new deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2021.
The Italian international, 31, who is set to become the club’s fifth player to be sold in the last year, said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia that he is keen to remain in England and that he has always been part of the City squad.
“I want it to be an Italian team,” Balotlli said.
“I like to stay with Manchester City.
The way the fans are and the way the squad is is good for me.
I want to continue in the team.
I don’t want to leave it.”
There is a lot of pressure on the team and I want more respect, but I am here to play.
“When I came here, I wasn’t ready for the pressure.
I have always done the same in every situation, so I don´t think that is a problem.”
Balotlli had been linked with Manchester United but the Italian was adamant that City were the only club he would consider returning to.
“If they want me to come to Manchester United, I will leave Manchester City,” he said.
“They need me in the squad.
I will stay in England, but that is not the issue.
I only have one choice.
I think I will come to a new club.”
Balutin has spent three years at the club, scoring 13 goals in the Premier League and the Champions League.
