Trump ‘not interested in talking’ about Kavanaugh vote

President Donald Trump reportedly doesn’t want to talk about the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as the next Supreme Court justice.
In a Fox News interview last week, Trump said that he was “not interested” in Kavanaugh being confirmed.
The president’s comments were seen as a sign of frustration with Democrats, who are calling for a vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination on Thursday.
While Trump has not said that, his administration has not ruled out the possibility of moving forward with the nomination.
“The president’s been clear that he is not interested in discussing the nomination, which has become more important in light of the latest developments,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.
Trump was a vocal supporter of Kavanaugh during the Senate confirmation hearings, calling the nominee “a very, very good judge.”
He also said during the hearings that he would vote for Kavanaugh to be confirmed if he could get the votes.
In an interview with CNN on Friday, Kavanaugh said he did not think Trump’s comments would influence his decision.
“If the president’s willing to put his foot down and say, ‘No, I can’t do it, I’ll let it pass and let the Republicans do it,’ then so be it,” Kavanaugh said.
“I’m not going to put my foot down on it.”
