Indian cricket fans boo Rajkot stadium brawl: Report

Posted March 13, 2020 12:03:24 Rajkot, Uttar Pradesh: A riot erupted on Sunday outside the Rajkota stadium where Indian cricket team players were taking part in a domestic tour match.
A video clip shows people outside the stadium shouting “Hurry up and give us your money”, as they try to force their way into the venue.
One man is seen holding a bat and a ball and throwing them at the police who move in to separate the two groups.
The riot was sparked after a man in the crowd threw a ball at the gate of the stadium and the police moved in to try to disperse it.
Video shows people standing in front of the Rajkshwar Stadium and screaming “Hang them!”, while others are seen holding bats and throwing it at the cops.
In another video clip, a woman wearing a shirt that reads “I’m not racist” can be seen yelling at the rioters, “Hail Modi”, and “Bharat Mata ki jai”, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as he takes part in the tour match against Pakistan.
A team of police officers and a court have been deployed to control the riot.
A video showing a rioter throwing a ball is posted on Twitter by a fan of Indian cricket, who goes by the handle Rajkut_Ace_Bajpai.
The video shows the police officers guarding the area, but they cannot move freely because the stadium is so large.
Police said the security situation was calm after the rioting broke out.
