In an interview with The Next Week magazine, Andrew Filler (right) revealed that he will be taking on the role of the mayor of the small town of Woody Boyd, in Northern NSW.
“I want to be a very different kind of mayor of Woodys Boyd,” he said.
“It’s going to be my first opportunity to be mayor of a town and I want to do that by telling it like its going to get.”
Filler will be sworn in as the new mayor of Rockhampton in February 2018, but has not revealed exactly what he will do for the town.
“The thing I’ve really been working on, the thing that I’ve been trying to do for two years, is the town is a bit of a bitomer,” he explained.
“So if you’re going to live in Woodys, it’s probably best to be able to live there.
It’s a bit more stable than a lot of other towns.”
Filling the role will be Andrew Filer, who was the new Mayor of Sydney for the first time in November 2017.
In that role, he oversaw the reopening of Sydney’s CBD and the closure of the Hunter Street tunnel.
Filler was also responsible for the city’s redevelopment and is a former NSW government official who worked with the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
“When we opened Sydney, it was the biggest city in Australia and we had a population of around 10 million people.
It was a massive city,” Filler said.
He is also a member of the NSW parliament and a member for the New South Wales Legislative Council.
“What’s really exciting about Woodys is the people that live there, the people who live in it, the community that comes through, the businesses that come through, and the quality of life that’s here,” he continued.
“We have a lot going for us.
In 2018, Woodys was named a city of the year by the Victorian Premier. “
If we can do that with the people we have, it will be an incredible start for the people of Woodies Boyd.”
In 2018, Woodys was named a city of the year by the Victorian Premier.
In 2019, the council voted to expand its community council to nine members.
The council will also be expanding its workforce to 200 people.
“My role is to make sure that we have the right people in place at the right time to deliver the city and the region’s needs,” Filer said.
